Trachoma papillary hyperplasia refers to the growth of papillary formations on the conjunctiva due to trachoma.
Trachoma papillary hyperplasia refers to the appearance of a large number of conjunctival papillae on the inner surface of the eyelid in patients with trachoma, which is one of the typical manifestations of inflammation. Trachoma is a common eye disease, caused by Chlamydia infection of the conjunctival tissue, and is greatly related to the patient's lack of eye hygiene and rubbing the eyes with dirty hands. Patients with trachoma may experience eye congestion, redness, the presence of follicles and papillary hyperplasia, as well as the formation of scar tissue on the inner surface of the eyelid. Timely treatment is necessary, otherwise the condition may gradually worsen, potentially leading to complications such as upper eyelid ptosis, entropion, and tear duct obstruction. For treatment, eye drops such as Rifampicin, Sodium Sulfacetamide, and Levofloxacin can be used to eliminate the infection.
Can myopia surgery correct astigmatism?
Myopia surgery can also remove astigmatism. Both myopia and astigmatism are common ophthalmological diseases, and they are different types of refractive errors that can occur simultaneously. Currently, there are various surgical methods to correct myopia, such as excimer laser surgery, full femtosecond laser surgery, half femtosecond laser surgery, and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation for phakic eyes. Whatever the type of surgery mentioned, it can correct and treat myopia while simultaneously removing the patient's astigmatism. Prior to surgery, a detailed optometric examination and ocular examination are required. Based on the patient's eye condition and specific degrees of myopia and astigmatism, a corresponding surgical plan is designed.
How to eliminate trachoma follicles
Trachoma follicles need to be treated regularly with antibiotic eye drops to kill the Chlamydia trachomatis and eliminate inflammation before they can be resolved. Trachoma is a common ophthalmic disease caused by neglect of eye hygiene, such as rubbing the eyes with dirty hands, leading to the infection of the conjunctival tissues by Chlamydia trachomatis. The typical symptoms include eye congestion, redness, increased discharge, and a foreign body sensation. By using a slit lamp microscope for magnified observation, the doctor can see numerous follicles and scar formation on the inner surface of the patient's eyelid, as well as vascular pannus formation at the corneal limbus. Treatment involves using eye drops such as levofloxacin hydrochloride, rifampicin, and sulfacetamide sodium to kill the pathogen and thereby alleviate the symptoms. (Please follow medical advice regarding medication.)
Can mild night blindness be cured?
Night blindness is a common ophthalmic disease caused by many factors. Its main symptom is difficulty seeing in dim environments, and it takes a longer time to adapt when moving from bright to dim surroundings. For mild night blindness, it is important to first identify the specific cause. Different causes lead to different treatments and outcomes. For example, night blindness caused by a deficiency in Vitamin A can be completely cured by taking oral Vitamin A capsules or by consuming foods rich in Vitamin A such as carrots and animal liver. Night blindness caused by malnutrition of the rod cells in the eye is incurable. For night blindness resulting from advanced glaucoma, treatment can delay and control the progression of the disease, but cannot reverse the damage already done to vision.
Can you wear contact lenses with 200 degrees of astigmatism?
Astigmatism of 200 degrees or less can be corrected by wearing regular contact lenses. However, when purchasing lenses, one needs to divide the astigmatism diopter by two and incorporate it into the prescription for myopia during the fitting process. If a patient's astigmatism exceeds 200 degrees, they typically are not suitable for regular contact lenses. Instead, they may opt for custom contact lenses with astigmatism correction or use rigid corneal contact lenses for correction. Patients with astigmatism should promptly visit an ophthalmology department at a hospital for an optometry examination to accurately determine their astigmatism and undergo vision correction tests. Following this, a doctor will issue a prescription for fitting contact lenses.
Can recurrent keratitis be cured?
Recurrent episodes of keratitis are incurable. If keratitis is caused by a viral infection, it usually leads to symptoms such as red eyes, eye pain, photophobia, and tearing. After the inflammation subsides with antiviral medication treatment, the virus will hide within the nerve fibers of the corneal tissue. When the body's immune system is weakened, during a cold, or when fatigued, the virus can replicate again, causing a recurrence of keratitis. Therefore, to reduce recurrent episodes of keratitis, patients should focus on regular physical exercise to strengthen their constitution, maintain sufficient sleep, and avoid catching colds. These actions can enhance the body's immunity, effectively reducing the frequency of keratitis attacks, and thus protect eye health.
