Can psoriasis be scratched?
Psoriasis, commonly known as psoriasis vulgaris, is a disease that may be related to reduced immunity, genetic factors, and recurrent tonsillitis. Some patients also have a history of trauma. After the onset of the disease, if the symptoms are mild and there is itching, it is permissible to scratch, but the force should be gentle to avoid creating scratches or further injuries on the skin. Otherwise, psoriasis can spread and worsen along these scratches or injuries, a phenomenon known as the Koebner response. If there are many lesions on the body, try to avoid scratching as it can exacerbate the symptoms. Once diagnosed with this disease, it is essential to seek standardized and formal treatment, which generally involves oral medications combined with topical treatments, and the use of narrow-band ultraviolet light therapy, which can be effective.
How long does papular urticaria heal by itself?
Papular urticaria is a type of allergic reaction, mostly related to contact with irritants or bites from mosquitoes, fleas, and similar insects. Typically, it causes red wheals to appear on localized areas of the body, often topped with a small secondary lesion or blister. Most cases involve itching. Generally, papular urticaria can resolve on its own within about a week without treatment. However, if the symptoms are severe, and the blisters are large, scratching them open can lead to infection, which will prevent natural healing. It is best to treat papular urticaria as soon as it appears using antiallergic medications either topically or orally, which usually lead to a quick recovery. After recovery, it is crucial to maintain a proper diet and lifestyle habits, avoid keeping small pets at home, stay away from areas with dense vegetation, and ensure bedsheets and covers are sun-dried to sterilize and kill germs.
Will vitiligo recur after skin grafting?
Vitiligo generally enters a stable phase after which skin grafting is quite effective. The stable phase is typically reached when, after about a year of treatment, there are basically no changes, no worsening or improvement in the condition, which is referred to as the stable phase. Using the method of skin grafting to directly implant melanocytes into the depigmented regions tends to be effective. Generally, after skin grafting, melanin quickly proliferates and extensively covers the depigmented areas. However, the factors causing this disease are quite complex. Some individuals, especially those with lower immunity, might experience recurrence even after a successful graft. Therefore, personal health status and clinical evidence should be considered individually.
The difference between papular urticaria and urticaria
Papular urticaria is an allergic reaction caused by direct contact with irritants or insect bites such as mosquitoes. The cause of the disease is relatively accurate, and treatment typically involves disinfecting clothes, bed sheets, and duvet covers by exposing them to sunlight, avoiding contact with small animals, and common antiallergic medications can cure it quickly. The causes of common urticaria are more complex and often unclear; identifying the allergens usually requires allergy tests in hospitals, and the treatment is more complicated than that for papular urticaria. Common antiallergic drugs can cure it in the short term. However, some cases of urticaria that enter a chronic phase can be very troublesome to treat, with lengthy treatment times and poor outcomes.
What should be paid attention to in daily life for alopecia areata?
Alopecia areata has many causes and complex contributing factors, and each person's triggering elements differ. Besides seeking treatment from qualified medical institutions, it is crucial to avoid spicy and stimulating foods, overly salty or strongly flavored foods, as well as to refrain from staying up late, feeling anxious, stressed, or upset. It is essential to enhance physical exercise to boost immunity and to avoid using irritating hair products such as gels or conditioners, or frequently perming or dyeing the hair, as these do not aid in treatment. Another important aspect is the need for long-term and persistent treatment because the effects of treatment for this condition are very slow to manifest. A single treatment cycle requires at least three months, but with long-term commitment, it is entirely possible to achieve a complete cure.
What should be noted about papular urticaria?
Papular urticaria is a type of allergic reaction, associated with direct contact with irritants, mosquito bites, or flea bites. It is important to frequently disinfect clothing, bed sheets, and quilt covers by exposing them to sunlight. Try to avoid keeping small animals at home, visiting parks or areas with abundant plants, or sitting or lying on grassy areas. Treatment should be carried out in a standard manner. Some papular urticaria lesions might develop small blisters at their apex, which should not be scratched or ruptured to prevent infection. If ruptured, the area should be disinfected with iodine and the local wound should be protected. Additionally, avoid spicy and irritating foods and try not to stay up late.
Can hair loss be inherited?
Hair loss generally has two common types: alopecia areata and seborrheic alopecia. Seborrheic alopecia has a certain hereditary nature, whereas alopecia areata does not have a hereditary aspect. Most cases are related to deficiencies in vitamins, trace elements, or low immunity. Seborrheic alopecia has some hereditary factors and is a genetic disease carried by males in the family. Once this disease occurs, it is not easy to completely eradicate and tends to worsen with age. Generally, one can take oral medications to reduce oil secretion, avoid spicy and stimulating foods, and avoid staying up late and stress. It is advisable to wash hair with lukewarm or cold water, and avoid using very hot water. After recovery, it is important to exercise more, consume more vegetables and fruits, and supplement vitamins and trace elements.
Can acne be squeezed?
Acne mostly occurs on the face, varying from mild to severe. Generally, there are some red, painful papules, and some may have white pustular papules. In such cases, try not to squeeze them. For some people with poor skin, acne scars or pits may form in the later stages, making treatment more troublesome. After the onset of acne, it is crucial to seek proper treatment at a dermatology department of a formal hospital. Oral and topical anti-inflammatory medications along with agents that clear internal heat should be used. Local treatment may involve red and blue light therapy. If there are indeed many pustules, a comedone extractor can be used to clean them appropriately. After recovery, it is important to avoid spicy and irritating foods, avoid staying up late, exercise regularly, and enhance immunity. (Specific medications should be taken under the guidance of a physician.)
Do tinea corporis and tinea cruris itch?
Tinea corporis and tinea cruris are both caused by fungal infections, and they are highly contagious and recurrent. Generally speaking, tinea corporis does not have very obvious symptoms of itching, but most patients with tinea cruris experience severe itching because it grows at the root of the thighs, an area that is often damp and not well ventilated, allowing fungi to proliferate quickly. Typically, there is mild to moderate itching. If these diseases are detected, it is crucial to seek prompt and formal treatment. The most common treatment is the application of antifungal creams, which can completely cure the condition if used consistently for at least 1 to 2 months. It is essential to sun-dry and disinfect underwear and socks, frequently clean beds to eliminate mites or fungi, and avoid keeping small animals at home.
The main causes of acne formation
Acne is primarily caused by excessive secretion from one's own sebaceous glands. There are various reasons for this excessive secretion, such as genetic constitution and dietary preferences for spicy, fried, or sweet foods. Frequent staying up late, anxiety, tension, or mood disturbances can also lead to this condition. Some women may experience acne related to menstrual disorders or hormonal imbalances. Once acne is noticed, it is best to seek proper medical treatment and avoid squeezing or picking with hands to prevent scarring or pockmarks. Besides medical treatment, it is essential to maintain a long-term diet avoidance, regulate eating habits, exercise regularly to boost immunity, sweat more, and possibly take medications that reduce sebaceous gland secretion.
