What to do about osteoporosis pain?
After osteoporosis leads to pain, we first need to clarify which part of the body the pain is located, or what causes the pain. If the pain is solely due to osteoporosis, such as decreased bone density in the limbs causing soreness and weakness, it is appropriate to supplement with calcium and vitamin D while also enhancing exercise to alleviate the pain. If the pain is due to fractures caused by osteoporosis, such as vertebral compression fractures or rib fractures, the fractures should first be repositioned, immobilized, and stabilized. Additionally, medications that treat osteoporosis should be used, such as those that inhibit bone resorption and promote bone formation.
Does a bone fracture hurt?
A bone fissure is actually a type of fracture, referring to a fracture where there is a crack in the cortical bone, but the stability of the bone is maintained. When a bone fissure occurs, it's important to immobilize and rest, avoiding excessive movement to prevent aggravating the cortical crack. Therefore, after a bone fissure occurs, common symptoms of a fracture such as pain, swelling, and limited mobility may also appear. Hence, if pain is severe after a bone fissure, it might be appropriate to choose some pain-relieving medications to alleviate the symptoms. (Medication should be used under the guidance of a doctor.)
Can tendonitis be massaged?
Tendinitis refers to the condition where, due to excessive flexing and extending movements, adhesions, exudation, and fibrosis occur between the tendon and the tendon sheath, leading to a local aseptic inflammatory response. This results in symptoms such as pain and limited mobility. When tendinitis occurs, it is important to choose the appropriate treatment based on the symptoms, such as adequate rest, avoiding excessive activity, and using physical therapy and heat applications to reduce local inflammation. If necessary, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be used for symptomatic treatment. However, massage does not have a significant effect, and a suitable and systematic treatment approach should be selected based on the symptoms. (The use of medication should be under the guidance of a doctor.)
Does a fracture hurt?
Fractures refer to the disruption of the continuity and integrity of the bone, which can lead to symptoms such as localized pain, swelling, deformity, and even limited mobility. Therefore, pain is a primary symptom of fractures. Due to the displacement of fracture ends and the irritation of nerves around the periosteum, severe pain can occur. After a fracture, it is important to immobilize the affected area to avoid exacerbating the symptoms during transportation or movement, and immobilization can also help reduce localized pain.
How to treat periarthritis of the shoulder?
Periarthritis of the shoulder refers to a sterile inflammation caused by chronic strain on the muscles, ligaments, or joint capsule around the shoulder joint, characterized by localized pain and limited mobility of the shoulder joint. For those experiencing periarthritis of the shoulder, it is advised to undergo physical therapy and rest, keep the area warm, avoid cold exposure, and engage in appropriate functional exercises to prevent joint stiffness due to the pain and limited mobility in the shoulder joint. Thus, with systematic treatment, this type of sterile inflammation in the shoulder joint can generally be alleviated.
How to relieve sciatic nerve pain
When experiencing sciatic nerve pain, it is important to first determine the cause. It may be due to a herniated disc compressing the nerve root, or it could be caused by piriformis syndrome. If the pain is caused by a herniated disc and it is the patient's first occurrence, a CT scan can be done. If the herniation is mild, conservative treatment may be chosen, such as wearing a lumbar support and performing some traction. Patients can also actively exercise their back muscles to alleviate the sciatic nerve pain. Additionally, it is recommended to sleep on a firm bed and spend more time lying down than sitting. If the herniation is severe, has been prolonged, or it recurs frequently, it is advised to seek professional treatment in orthopedics. If the pain is due to piriformis syndrome, a visit to a pain management clinic is suggested for symptomatic relief and pain alleviation.
How to treat periarthritis of the shoulder?
Periarthritis of the shoulder generally refers to the aseptic inflammation around the shoulder joint, which is common in middle-aged and elderly women. It is caused by chronic strain of the shoulder joint, affecting the surrounding muscles, tendons, joint capsules, and ligaments. First, it is important to rest and you can promote blood circulation around the area with appropriate physiotherapy, such as hot compresses and acupuncture, to facilitate the repair of the damaged area. At the same time, appropriate exercise should be carried out to avoid stiffness of the joint that can occur with prolonged immobility or passive restraint.
Tendon sheath inflammation symptoms
Tendon sheath inflammation refers to a sterile inflammation that occurs between the tendon and the tendon sheath due to chronic overuse, impacting the tendon's gliding due to proliferative compression, causing localized pain, and restricted movement. In the early stages of tendon sheath inflammation, symptoms can be alleviated by rest, physiotherapy, and the topical application of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs. If the compression symptoms are severe and significantly restrict movement, resulting in snapping, surgery is recommended to excise the narrowed tendon sheath to restore function and relieve pain.
How long does a bone fracture need to rest?
A bone fissure is actually a type of bone fracture, which refers to the presence of a crack in the cortical bone, but the stability of the bone remains. Bone fissures also require immobilization and rest to promote healing of the fracture. Generally, healing of a bone fissure takes about 8-12 weeks. However, this can vary based on the specific location of the fracture, the blood supply to the fracture site, and the presence of injuries to other areas, among other factors. Therefore, the typical rest period for a bone fissure is about three months.
What is lumbar disc herniation?
Lumbar disc herniation is a condition caused by the rupture of the fibrous ring of the intervertebral disc, protrusion of the central nucleus pulposus, which compresses the nerve roots or the spinal cord, resulting in a series of symptoms. For example, it can cause pain in the lower limbs and instability in the lumbar spine, leading to pain in the waist, as well as pain in the waist when walking or standing, and even sensations of numbness and tingling in the lower limbs. In severe cases, it can cause symptoms affecting urination and defecation.
